Bristol Water Fisheries operates an informal customer loyalty reward scheme for pike fishing on Chew Valley Lake. The scheme is affectionately named the Golden Ticket.
The scheme has been established year on year since the start of pike fishing on Chew Valley Lake and we thank all those loyal customers on the scheme for their part in the development of world class pike fishing at Chew.
The scheme supports our sustainable pike fishing approach and the number of people on this informal scheme has grown over the years. The scheme increases the relative proportion of experienced pike handlers on the lake that the fishery trusts to help protect the pike stocks.
As the number of scheme members grew, the overall ticket allocation to the scheme has also grown! This has made it harder for the fishery to maintain equitable access in our pike fishing offering. For this reason the scheme is now closed to new members and the entitlement to individual members has been reduced.
Increasingly, Bristol Water Fisheries has tried to increase equitable access to our waters. Bristol Water Fisheries now believes that the loyalty scheme must cease to ensure this continues to be possible. 2018 will see the closure of the loyalty scheme.
Current members of this scheme will continue to be permitted to purchase 4 dead bait tickets in advance of general sale for season 2018 but will lose this opportunity for the 2019 season.
Bristol Water Fisheries will be increasing the predator season ticket availability from 100 permit holders to 150 per season and offer each current loyalty scheme member the chance to purchase a maximum of two 2018 predator season tickets by January 17th 2018. If loyalty scheme holders already hold 2 predator season tickets the remaining tickets will be released for general sale on 18th January 2018.
